So after a week of working on my new board game, I've managed to more or less get the rules of the game down and have created a simple instruction manual.
You can view the manual here.
The design and concept behind this game is primarily influenced by the very awesome indie game "Crawl".
Up to 4 players go at it with one player being human and the rest controlling monsters. The monster player that kills the human player becomes the new human player, and this continues until the session ends in an epic 3 v 1 boss fight.
The board game, Project Groot, works very similarly. Up to 4 players participate, with one player being human at all times and the others controlling monsters. The monster that deals the killing blow on the human player replaces him as the new human player, and this repeats until a human player manages to collect 10 "souls" of the monsters, which wins him the game.
The gameplay of the board game /card game however is primarily influenced by Munchkins (a game which I adore but also lothe) and Pixel Tactics (a game which I literally love but can never find anyone to play with.)
Anyways, week one was brain storming and laying out the basic rules.
This week, I will aim to create a playable set of cards (at least 20 cards) and the play deck will be a deck of all the cards with 2 or 3 copies of each card.
The development process of this game will largely be the cycle of play testing in order to figure out the balance and nature of the game. If you're interested in getting a print and play version to playtest with, shoot me an e-mail :)
